Time frame was around November 2018 if I remember right…

Up early on day and took an Uber over to some area on the other side of Brisbane I have long since forgotten I met up with Pierre. He had invited me on a dive at Byron Bay, and I figured why not. This bloke was originally from South Africa. Hindsight is always 20/20 when you self-reflect but I wish I had asked him to train me for the IDC with PADI. Did not matter on that day because we (Pierre, a mate of his, and one lady) we were set to go dive off a launch point in Bryon Bay. I was excited to see turtles, sharks, and sea life which was and still must be huge difference compared to the training area of Tweed Heads. Coffees down the hatch, loaded up the Ute (truck) and off we went.

But if you have read the blog so far then you already know this romp down under never went to plan. About 20-30 minutes outside of Bryon Bay we get a call from the Skipper or dive shop stating that weather is bad and the launch is a no go. None of us were happy about the cancelation, especially once we got to the beach area and saw other boats that were launching in the distance with divers going in. Made no sense… Yes, there was some wind, but nothing to fully cancel the dive because of weather. But not our call.
Make the most of the day, I guess, and walk up to see a beautiful view of the bay itself and a lighthouse. Took a couple of snapshots and then once down the hill we headed off to a place called The Farm which had a farm to table restaurant called Three Blue Ducks. So, we walked about the grounds, I am certain I ordered nothing, and then we made our way back to Brissy. No dives under our led belts on this go. But at that point in the Down Under romp it was starting to set in that this entire trip was just not going well.
